Fantastic family

Remeber the fundraiser I participated in last November? This is the wonderful family that one the auction for a session with me. It was so much fun to work with them. They have fantastic smile and great personalities! Did I mention they also photograph beautifully?

I love this one! What is better than grandparents and their grandbabies? So much love and adoration!

These kids are so adorable and so very cute! I made a few new friends. It is my favorite part of this job. I love it!

Remember that beautiful maternity session that I had? I had the privilege a few weeks later to meet the beautiful new addition to their family- a gorgeous baby girl. I love newborns. They are adorable, small, and so precious. And this one was all of those things and then more.

Since I do not photograph weddings I do not have many engagement sessions. So I was so excited to be given the opportunity to work with this wonderful engaged couple. She is a dentist at the office we go to and my whole family just loves her. The kids were very excited that I was working with her and her fiance. The Paradise Valley Country Club was the perfect location for such a beautiful couple.

I have been working with this beautiful family for years. I love that the kids get so excited to come see me. They are having another addition to their family and I had the privilege of documenting this exciting stage. So cute, so fun!

What a fun way to end a session! These tow love each other very much and it was so evident in their interactions with each other. What a joy! The new baby will be greatly loved.

Cold and windy fun!

This family is such pure fun! I have known them since this summer and have loved it. They have such great sense of humor and adventure and handled a very unusual cold (high in the low 40s) and very windy Phoenix December day. I personally am just impressed I got portraits without hair in the face. Oh did I mention how cute they all are too?

I thought the back light images were perfect for a nice warm vintage look.

Don't be afraid to go big with yoru family portraits. Your family is beautiful and what better artwork to display in your home than beautiful portraits of those you hold dear. We finally got the last of our family portraits hung and I wanted to share them with you. I went big and I LOVE it!!!

The middle portrait is 2 ft by 3 ft. Each side is 16 in x 20in then a 12in x 18 in and at the ends are 11in x14in

My family had our family portraits taken back in October. I hired out family portraits but I still took all the images of my kids and the girls with their dad. I finally finished the kids individual portraits less than two weeks before Christmas. That is what happens when you wait to be caught up on work first, lol!!! The individual ones of the girls were done in October at Sahuaro Ranch Park and the rest were taken in December at DC Ranch Market. I may be a bit biased but I sure think they are cute kids!

We had a ton of fun too. I love my wild and crazy kids!!!

I had the privilege of working with this family. They have a great deal to do with where I am today. Their support, encouragement and faith have meant the world to me and to my business. Now I am not sure if the kids thought it was such a privilege because the session was at 6:45 am and it took 30 minutes to get there! They were fantastic troopers though and we came away with fabulous portraits!!

Courage and beauty

My friend Jenny is battling breast cancer for the second time. She is an amazing woman who is facing it with poise, honor, power and grace. And she has an amazing family with two amazing children who are fantastic friends to my children and we are so blessed to have them in our lives. I had the honor last weekend of taking their family portraits. They dressed perfectly and are so easy to work with and pose that I went a little crazy and had a blast. Talk about adorable!!! It took this cutie a few minutes to warm up but we had a great time. It is such a fun location and such a fun family. One year sessions are always bittersweet. It is so much fun to see how they have grown and to celebrate this milestone with them but it is also sad because I know I won't be seeing them quite as often. And I have the best clients! So I went a little crazy with the picture share- but I can't help myself. Isn't she the most beautiful thing? She slept beautifully for me and I was able to try so many different things. It was such a joy to work with her. And it was such a joy to spend a morning with my friend whom I do not see nearly enough! I will definitely remedy that!

Sneek peek- newborn sweetness

As a baby shower gift to a really good friend of mine I gave her a newborn session. Whenever I am doing a free session I always do something for me and use the opportunity to try something new. I have had this shot pictured in my head forever and finally had a chance to try it out. This adorable little girl was my BEST sleeper ever! She pretty much let me do whatever I wanted. Usually sessions with newborns go hours trying to get them to go to sleep. This one went long for two reasons, one I was trying so many new things because she was so cooperative and two we kept waiting for her to wake up so that we could get awake shots! I took plently of more typical shots also which I will share soon. I just started editing and this was the first one I finished. I couldn't wait to share!

The Litttle House on 5th East

This is a personal project I have been working on for a long time now. It was interesting working on it. I had to stop several times because it was just to hard. But then once I got really going I couldn't wait to see the finished project. (it helped that my supplier was having a sale to motivate me to work through the emotions and finish)

I often felt more at home at my grandparents house than anywhere else in the world. I wanted to be able to remember the house long after I was able to visit it. Other than the piece by Brad Caldwell it has no words. I debated long and hard on that but I wanted those who look at it to be able to associate it with their own memories. I would like someday to put together a companion piece with memories. And anyways the book would be too long and I wouldn't be able to afford to print it if I included all my memories. There are just to many. But I will record them all soon so that I don't forget.

While I have not been taking on new assignments over the summer I have been working with baby plan clients. Here are my baby plan clients I have worked with the last few months and one I did as a gift for a friend. (I needed practice with a grown woman and her daughter was celebrating her baptism. )

I can't believe she is a year already! Time flies.

This is her cute daughter who was baptised this month. My daughters babysit her and her siblings a lot and love them so much. It was fun to do this gift for her.

This is my beautiful oldest. She is officially done with elementary school. She will be a freshman in high school in the fall. And she grows more and more beautiful each day. Wasn't she just my little girl who would climb into bed with Mike and I, put her chubby arms around our necks, squeeze and say "my family''? Time flies. I love her and am so grateful for her. And so proud. This is from our quick five minute session before we left for promotion.

He let me practice on him today. They turned out so cute I may just leave it as his birthday picks or I may wrangle him into it again we shall see. He says he wants to do it again. Hard to turn down a willing victim. He is a child of great expression and I think I caught most all of them. I bought this drop used to use for my oldest 8th grade promotion pics. I think I will love it!

His sister tried to make him smile naturally (he was being cheesefest) and this is what she got instead! He doesn't like her trying to get him to do anything!

Baseball Season

Baseball season just came to a close. Aren't my ballplayers cute? They love baseball and are sad to see it end. They are anxiously awaiting fall ball. Me- not so much. Because in the fall they won't be able to be on the same team anymore and the likelihood of us living at the ballpark increases greatly!

I love my Grandma Packer's tulips. She passed away about two weeks ago and we were in Utah for her funeral last weekend. Her flower beds were covered in beautiful tulips. My 11 year old wanted to take some home with her. I told her I would take pictures so that we could take them home and keep them forever. My Grandmother was the most amazing woman I have ever met. I am so grateful for the opportunity we had to go adn remember and honor her with all those whose lives she touched.

Due to health concerns, I am sad to announce that I will not be accepting any new appointments for the foreseeable future. I will still be honoring all Baby Plan clients (so if you still have sessions left please feel free to contact me to schedule them) and will still take orders (so if you haven’t ordered there is still time!) but I will not be scheduling any new sessions for the time being. I hope to have things back up and running this fall. Keep following my blog and Facebook as I will be posting the occasional Baby Plan client and personal projects. It has been a pleasure and a blessing to work with each and every one of you and I have enjoyed getting to know you and your families. I look forward to working with you in the future.

Imaging USA

It is so nice to be home where it is sunny and warm. I just returned from a week long trip to Imaging USA- Professional Photographers of America's annual convention. It was held in Nashville, Tennessee where it was overcast and freezing, literally! It was record setting weather. The convention was held at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and so we only needed to venture outside for sightseeing.(which we only had time for two quick trips- one to see the Ryland Auditorium, the previous home of the Grand Ole Opry, and The Hermitage- President Andrew Jackson's home).

The convention was incredible. I spent four days in classes soaking up information from the leading experts in the industry. Every year I learn something new and wonderful that helps me grow as an artist and business owner. I have always loved learning and truly believe there is always room to grow and learn. I also previewed many exciting new products from vendors. There are some wonderful products being released this year. I am so excited to begin to implement many of the new techniques that I learned to be able to serve your needs better and create more amazing artwork of your family for your home. The Hermitage: Home of President Andrew Jackson. It was under restoration on the exterior while we were there. The home has original 1836 wall paper and furniture. Very fascinating. It was very cold but worth it.

I had so much fun with this family. The mom was a student teacher in one of my daughter's classes several years ago and we just love her! It is a privilege to photograph her beautiful little girl. It was a beautiful evening and we enjoyed the fact that it was finally cooler here in Phoenix. I love spending more time outdoors. I did several different finishes on this session, a faded look, my softer black and white (really more of a cream) and an old photography look. They worked so well with the setting and the outfits. Such a beautiful family!

The reception was held at a club house in a beautiful neighborhood. Everything was lovely and the food was fantastic. I like this girl- daisies, dark chocolate and dancing. Girl after my own heart!

Everyone had a great time dancing! Mike and I even danced but no record of it. We did though I promise! I stayed to help clean up while Mike took the kids back to the hotel to get them in bed. It was a great night and a wonderful celebration. I am so grateful for the wonderful woman who agreed to marry my brother. He did well.

First off I do not photograph weddings! But when your brother is the one getting married you must take pictures to remember, right?

We traveled to Seattle to be there for his wedding. We LOVE his new bride. I am always glad to add another sister to the family- I am the only girl with five brothers!-the girls are still outnumbered though. I of course took along my photography gear. We did family portraits(to be seen at a later date). I asked their photographer, Kali Leenstra (http://kalileenstraphoto.com/blog/), if it would be okay if I had my camera out also and followed them around a bit. (it is kind of hard to be unnoticed with my gear). She was gracious enough to allow me to. So here is some of what I photographed. Check out her blog for more wonderful portraits of the happy new couple.

I was pretty much fly on the wall with my long lens, trying to capture more details and random moments as they already had a photographer to create portraits. These are all at the temple, I left before they were done. I also have images from the luncheon and the reception. And more of my family. Those tomorrow!

These were taken as they walked out of the temple. There were so many people with their P&S and I was off to the side so I took detail shots. We teased Devin that they had their very own paparazzi.

Yes I am in a photo (shock and awe appropriate here). This is all the girls in the family. My husband took this candid moment.

Isn't she beautiful? She is also fun, kind and so very in love with my brother. I know we will get along great as she loves photography and dark chocolate. My kind of girl.

I have photographed this beautiful little girl since she was born. I love watching babies grow up and I love getting to know their families. I must be doing something right when her big brother is so excited to see Miss Amy! It is the best part - the kids excitement!

My nephews are in town visiting this summer. They are the cutest things and we love hanging out with them and their parents. I had the privilege last week of taking their portraits. They are so incredibly photogenic. My husband, Mike, is called the baby whisperer by my family because he can not only quiet just about any crying baby but he can also get them to smile and laugh before just about anyone else can. I am so glad we did this when he was home. It was so worth it!

I have never heard a 3 month old laugh as long or as hard as he was. It was adorable and my husband is amazing!

This one didn't want to sit up! Instead he wanted to be just like his little brother and lay down. This is what we got. It is definitely his personality!

Five Generations

I love taking generation portraits. They are something that will will treasured forever. I had the blessing of working with five generations. It was such a pleasure to get to know these wonderful women.

This consists of baby, mom, grandma, great grandma, and great great grandma. We were able to visit for a while. What amazing, wonderful women!

Several generations have slept in this bassinet.

My adorable sweet cuddly nephew

Isn't he the sweetest thing ever? This is my nephew and I photographed him last week. He was a little stinker in that, smiley baby as he is, he only seemed to want to grin when the camera was put away or his face was buried in a blanket. That's okay we still need to get portraits of him and his brother so we will have a second shot at it soon.

This one was taken because my son insisted that my nephew get his picture taken with his coveted panda. Too cute!

So sweet!

I love the expression in the first one. It was the "ha ha I am not going to smile when my face is up or the camera is up. Just you watch!"

Okay so he LOVED to chew on the basket. Talk about drool city!

His brother had to be right in the middle of the action and since he was playing with a cute toy right in my lights I had to take a pic- even if he was whatever about it!

Isn't she the sweetest thing? And beautiful to boot! Her mother student taught in my daughter's class a couple of years ago and we just love her, so it was a great privilege to be able to work with her and her beautiful little girl! I look forward to watching her grow!

I have stairs right next to my studio and this little boy was fascinated by them. What little boy doesn't love to climb? After exploring the stairs we were able to take beautiful portraits of him. My baby turned 6 on Friday! We call him wild child as he is both sweet as can be and yet has a wild streak. These are so him! He did his hair himself, he LOVES it sticking straight up. And you gotta love the shiner- a reminder of running through the sprinklers at his end of the year party at school. They grow up too fast! I am so grateful I was able to capture him and his personality at this fun time in his life. You can see more images of him on my Facebook page.

This cutie just turned one and we headed to this great train park for his portraits. I just love this family! We had so much fun and he was such a trooper. Especially since we are having a much warmer than normal May. I still can't get over this boys eyes. They are captivating.

I had the privelage of working with these beautiul twin girls this last week. As many twins are, they were born early and so although they were almost three month old they were small enough to do many of the fun newborn poses!

I was also able to photograph them with their cousin. He thought it was great fun to be squished by two beautiful girls!

I purchased a new backdrop about a week ago. I needed to take some portraits on it so that I could show you what they look like. Well I was blessed to photograph these two GORGEOUS girls today. Seriously model gorgeous! I still have to edit the sessions but I had to share a sneak peak. I will photograph these two anytime. So easy to work with and the camera just loves them! SO much fun! And I am LOVING the new backdrop. Isn't it just YUMMY? It is called sweet apple and it is definitely sweet! Thanks girls!

I took my nephew's one year pictures today while they are in town visiting from Boston. He is a mover and a shaker but we managed to get him to stay still for a few shots. The first one was very typical of the session though! We are going to miss him when he leaves! (and his mom and dad too of course!)
